Milk PaintingBefore you purchase one one of our Old Fashioned Milk Painted pieces, we would like you to understand the look that we are trying to create. When we milk paint an object we do our best to create an antiqued look. We do this by a number of means. If we know that the object will be milk painted we choose lumber that has nicks, dings or holes. If not, we may drop the wood or bent wood on the floor to help nature along its way. After milk painting, the piece is finished with Watco® Danish Oil to darken and age the paint color. After drying we sand off the milk paint back to the bare wood along the natural wear areas. All of this is followed with our Shaker Wood Finishes process. All of this is done to create the look of a old object that was found in "grandmother's closet", brought home and polished up. |
